Last evening, we found a baby squirrel wondering around, probably looking for its mother. A quick check on Internet on caring for a baby squirrel helped us understand its immediate needs. We do not know whether the baby was orphaned or not but it was weak and probably dehydrated. Armed with the information from the Internet, the team immediately went about preparing a cosy little cotton nest.
Children were delighted to see the baby squirrel and some wanted to touch and feed it!
We know we cannot keep it as our classroom pet. So, we tried to reunite with his mother but were unsuccessful. We will try again as it is the best thing to do for the young squirrel’s survival.
